What You Will Find Here
Ceramic work forms one of the media sections of the site, sitting alongside paintings, papier mâché, masks, tiles, and works on paper. The ceramic collection includes masks and tile pieces, along with other sculpted forms in clay.
Because much of the studio output is animal-themed, the ceramic pieces frequently echo the creatures shown in the painted collections — cats, dogs, farm animals, and the more fanciful characters from the Creatures gallery.
To see everything in one place, visit the Galleries page, which lists the full range of themed collections and media types.
Much of the work gathered here is three-dimensional, formed in clay and fired until the surface holds its own color and texture. Ceramic masks, decorative tiles, and a range of other sculpted pieces sit together as a single medium section, and many of them carry the same animal characters that populate the paintings. The animals are the through-line of the studio: cats, dogs, horses, cattle, birds, and smaller creatures appear again and again, reshaped for walls, for plinths, for flat hanging surfaces.
Because so much of the output is animal-themed, the ceramic pieces tend to feel like relatives of the paintings rather than a separate practice. A mask can carry the same expression as a painted face; a tile can compress a creature into a repeating panel. Firing changes the character of the work, giving weight, sheen, and imperfection to forms that would otherwise remain flat. Alongside the ceramics, the site holds paintings, papier mâché, works on paper, and other media, each with its own gallery and its own selection of the creatures and characters that recur throughout.
